Fun Free Fridays * Karisa Winkel Designs

One of the very important things in this life is gratitude. Writing a thank you card seems to have been lost in our society for a while and is now making its comeback. Thank yous can be sent for a wedding gift but you can also send out a thank you to your son's cub scout leader for all her hard work or to the neighbor who got your mail for you when you were out of town or even to your mailman/lady for special care of your packages. Wouldn't you feel a little bit happier if someone sent you a little thank you? Karisal Winkel is such a talented lady be sure to read the blub she wrote about herself at the bottom. Her designs are amazingly beautiful. I love the fact that she wants to find the connection in the designs she creates to the person who is using them. It is that same connection that I find rewarding about my photography. This week we are giving away a set of Thank You Cards designed by Karisa. Here is a little bit more about these sweet cards, " They are a set of 10 cards, letterpressed in many different colors. Each card is different, all unique and charming in its own way. Some have intricate lace, others have vintage art and type. All are printed on Crane's paper, which is really thick and beautiful. These cards are a great way to send an impressive and heart-felt thank you."

{about Karisa Winkel right from Karisa herself }

Karisa Holyoak Winkel, designer and owner:
"After 3 years of being an Art Director in NYC, I finally gathered the courage to start my own letterpress design boutique (a life-long dream). Though I market myself as a wedding stationery designer, I also do custom projects and love to take on a unique project. You can check out the work at For most of our printing, we use letterpress. I believe that its unique beauty is unparalleled, and thus it far outweighs the cost. Its tactile impression is much more authentic and artistic than cheaper, traditional offset printing and the printed image leaves a deep, crisp, and sharp impression that gives the paper a unique look and feel. The rich texture of the light, depth and shadow of the impression is what has caused a recent resurgence in the craft. Its beauty is truly unrivaled.Style-wise, I love anything that has modern, clean lines, reflects your unique personality, and has a story behind it. I find that projects are much more fulfilling when they have a soul and represent more than "looking pretty."I love design that is concept-driven and means something to the client.Things are going really well so far—thanks to a lot of hard work and support from family and friends. Karisa Winkel Designs has been featured three times in Modern Bride and the fourth will be in the June/July issue '08. For now we're located in Provo, UT but we're moving the company to San Francisco in June of this year. "

{Your referrals are working! We again have a winner Kristina M. who referred several friends to our Fun Free Fridays giveaway & got herself some extra entries. She won the sweet Pettiskirt from Oopsy Daisy Baby-thanks to for helping choose our winner!}
