I have for a very long while now been thinking about buying some oilcloth to make a table cloth. Oilcloth is cloth fabric was at one time a heavy cotton or sometimes linen cloth that was treated with linseed oil. Today it is a cotton fabric that is coated in a thin plastic/acrylic. It is easy to wipe clean but is much prettier than the cheap plastic tablecloths. An oilcloth tablecloth is one of the very easiest things you can make. Simply cut to the cloth to your desired length & shape. No sewing required. You can add a little detail buy cutting the edges with some scalloped designed pinking sheers. You can make some quick place mats too. They are oh so easy. Your young children can help. Have them cut out a fun shape like a star or a flower.
Oilcloth Alley has some sweet oilcloth lunch bags. They are also simple to make yourself click here for directions. A great green way to send your child to school with a sack lunch.
