Etiquette Tidbits * no. 1 Salt & Pepper Shakers

{Etiquette Tidbits no. 1}

Scenario 1. Your sitting at the table during a nice event. You reach for the salt and pepper but not sure which is which. Scenario 2. You are creating a lovely dinner for friends and family. You just bought a pretty new salt and pepper shaker for the table which is for the salt and which is for the pepper. Not all salt and pepper shakers come with salt and pepper clearly marked on them like the sets above. The salt should always be in the container with more holes and the pepper in the container with less holes. Now everyone will be happy when they shake.

I love those top shakers! And I always pick the wrong one when the shakers are labeled and aren't see through. Great meeting you this weekend!

Except at our house . . . but we've always been one to fly in the face of etiquette . . . we prefer the salt in the two holes, and the pepper in the three holes. The salt comes out slower and the pepper comes out fast that way - hee hee! Otherwise it just seems like the salt comes out so dang fast and the pepper you have to shake and shake and shake . . .
