Mini-cation Salt Lake City * LDS Church History * Z Tejas * Country Inn and Suites

On our last full day of our Minication in Salt Lake City we decided to tour around Temple Square. We stopped in the Lion House Pantry for a quick snack and discovered the most buttery yummy handmade butter mints in the world. It inspired me to look for a really good butter mint recipe. Watch out for a butter mint recipe post coming soon. Even though we have toured the Beehive House- which was Brigham Young' s house the second Mormon prophet, we found out that they change the tour often. The focus of the tour this time was on Brighman Young's love of learning. We found out even though he had a few days of formal education he spent his life time studying. He even founded the University of Utah and the Brighman Young Academy. Our tour guide also happened to be a second cousin of mine that I had never met. Our grandpa's are brothers. The kids were excited to walk through the Church of Jesus Christ Church History Museum. They really enjoy seeing things that connect them to those from the past.

After a full say of sight seeing we headed to the Gateway Mall. Confession: I have never been inside an Athorpologie store. It made me love it even more. I want all the beautiful hardware for our remodel.
Then on to Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill for dinner. We started off with a really yummy guacamole and queso with chips. Tan had the Jack’s Five-Cheese Macaroni & Achiote Chicken. I think his dinner was my favorite. Sha' loved her Chicken Avocado Sandwich.

The Chef's choice of dessert for the night was a nice rich caramel cheese cake.

When got back to our suite at the Country Inn & Suites Tan read a little to us from Stewart Little. I love that they have Read It & Return lending library for the kids.

It has been a great trip to spend time together as a family enjoying the great things to do in the Salt Lake Valley. Thanks to the Country Inn & Suites for taking good care of us. I am very impressed with the services and accommodations. If you are looking for some ideas for a great road trip for your family the Country Inn & suites has set-up some itineraries for different parts of the country here: Hit the Road Country
